New MANUKAU "OPEN" PLAN works for all concerned!
Completed within budget and before schedule, the Manukau Golf Club House bar also has a new layout. The "open plan" may start a trend, as both staff and members say they enjoy the closer relationship between all sections of the club.

With a food servery in the same line and the open bar layout, all visitors benefit and comments already mention the good atmosphere.

Esplanade Hotel

To whom it may concern

In August 2002 the Esplanade Hotel took control of an adjoining
bar which up until this time was operated as a separate tenancy.

I had the concept pretty much in mind but needed someone who could produce the working drawings and liaise with council on permits and planning approvals. I also had a very tight time frame, 6 weeks in which to complete a major refurbishment.

The refurbishment required the relocation of the kitchen, toilets, construction of new bar, new lighting/wiring, new sound systems, repaint, carpet/flooring and an entire new cellar system.

The Yellow Pages yielded a number of prospective designers who came armed with their own ideas and big budgets and many reasons why the project could not be completed in the time frame allowed.

Bruce, on the other hand took time to listen to what we wanted to achieve and then made suggestions on how to refine our ideas into a more practical and workable option. He then turned these ideas into working drawings and submitted these to council ensuring that permits were issued without delay.

At all times Bruce was available to discuss issues as they arose and it is evident that he is held in high regard by the trades-people he uses.

I would certainly use Bruce's services again in the future 27.JPG (212983 bytes)

BCD is very proud to be associated with MVC-003MIL.JPG (28473 bytes)

We quote from their reference letter:

Millennium Institute of Sport & Health

Auckland, New Zealand

To whom it may concern

In August of 2001we employed BCD, Bruce Campbell Design, to undertake a number of jobs within the new Millennium Institute of Sport & Health which generally consisted of the building and fit out of our new kitchen and bar facilities. Bruce undertook the following services for us:

General Layout concept plan
Kitchen and Bar working drawings for contractor pricing
Building Permit working drawings
Product Procurement of all fittings within kitchen and bar
Project Management of the whole project
Council Liaison including Health issues
Architects & Engineers liaison

During the project, we found Bruce to be extremely professional and easy to work with. From the concept stages to the completion of this project, Bruce was constantly present liaising with myself, equipment suppliers and the construction company to ensure the best possible outcome was achieved.

The Finish Line Bar and Bistro has in many ways exceeded our expectations, largely due to Bruce's input and design.

I would have no hesitation to recommend BCD and will be happy MVC-013MIL.JPG (33363 bytes)
to show people through the Finish Line Bar and Bistro if required.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to confirm that approximately 10 years ago we were assisted by Mr Bruce Campbell with the design and technical advice on the layout and construction of a new bar in our clubrooms. We therefore had no hesitation in again contracting Bruce when it was decided that we would upgrade the same bar area completely.

Following our initial discussions, a suggestion of a horse shoe shape was quickly taken up by Bruce, and from that point the foundation was laid. The plans were produced, considered and accepted with only minor alterations required.
MVC-MORR11.JPG (39415 bytes)
At this point ot was decided work could not proceed immediately as ANZAC Day commitments within the Club would be impossible., however Bruce felt otherwise and produced a day by day works plan and also arranged a meeting with the principal contractors and our committee. Each contractor in turn confirmed their ability to make the deadlines required and a decision to proceed was decided immediately. The result was that our bar was completed and operational within the prescribed time frame and with days to spare.

Our Members and staff are highly delighted with the result and now realise that had we not been quietly steered away from suggestions that we made from time to time that the blending of the whole effect would have been lost.

It is with pleasure that we recommend Bruce Campbell Design without hesitation for projects of this nature, and we will welcome any future prospective clients to visit our clubrooms and inspect or discuss this project in detail.

A BCD BAR DESIGN WAS NOMINATED FOR A SPECIAL AWARD BY THE ADNZ:
THOROUGHBRED TAVERN

MVC-008S.JPG (40344 bytes)

ADNZ - SPECIAL AWARD NOMINATION

LOCATION    1 The Furlong, (Opposite FoodTown, Great South Road) Takanini

HISTORY
The Thoroughbred Tavern is well known in South Auckland as a place where the horse racing fraternity and sportspeople have gathered since it was built in 1972.

INTERIOR REDESIGN

After discussions between Manager Barry McCann and BCD, it was decided to add a new dimension to the Tavern Sports Bar, to revamp the interior to suit the modern era sports clientle. The new bar style was fashioned around a Jarrah top and bar front, with matching Jarrah flashings on the back shelves and various furniture throughout the new bar. The floor is Mahogany blending in with the Jarrah to give a warm and cozy timber feeling.

Existing interior bulkheads were removed to give the new sports bar a more open atmosphere and look. The new layout is based on a central cool-room and a surrounding bar, providing easy access and a centralpoint for customers.

The bar working environment includes a modern stainless steel work surface with steel trestles beneath for easy cleaning. Each barperson has their own workstation with all necessary equipment within their reach and pass through bottle chillers immediately behind them. A central wash area ensures easy clean glass handling and a minimum 1300mm work space allows bar staff to work safely during even the busiest periods.

New Casino and T.A.B. stations have been located near the bar to maintain good service flow. The main wall colour in the bar is Obershene to contrast with the cream wall and ceiling colors, giving a sharp impact from the bar entry.
